Anyone here ever added transformer manufacturing concepts into their game design

I am working on a small simulation style project and I am exploring the idea of adding transformer manufacturing as part of the resource and tech progression. Since Kongregate has so many devs who love building management and strategy mechanics, I thought this would be a good place to ask. I am trying to figure out how to make the process simple enough for players but still feel realistic.

If anyone has tried adding industrial production systems or energy based mechanics before, I would love to hear what worked for you. I am mainly looking for ideas on how to balance material requirements, production time and upgrades without making the game too complicated. Any tips or examples would be super helpful.
