What is the key difference between Front-end vs back-end?
The most important distinction between front-end and back-end development is what aspect of a web application they work on. Front-end development concerns the user interface and experience—what users view and engage with in their browsers. It is about creating and writing the visual structure using technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. Front-end developers make the website responsive, speedy, and easy to use.
Conversely, back-end development deals with the server-side of the app—how the site functions in the background. Back-end development includes databases, servers, and application logic. Back-end developers work with languages such as Java, Python, PHP, or Node.js, and work with data through databases such as MySQL or MongoDB. They ensure data is handled properly, deal with user authentication, and implement business logic.
Together, both positions form a complete, operational web application—front-end manages the appearance and feel, whereas back-end maintains functionality and performance.
